Carbon Reduction Plan

Amberstone Security Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040 and, to this end, have developed a Carbon Reduction Plan as laid out below.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Green House Gas emissions companies make directly, e.g., while running boilers and vehicles.

Scope 2: 2,405,188 kg Total Emissions (tCO₂e)

Emissions made indirectly, like when electricity or energy a company buys for heating and colling buildings is being produced on its behalf.

Scope 3: 11.86 Waste Tonnes (12,050 kg) Total Emissions (tCO₂e)
Including Sources: 1.43 Recycling Tonnes (1452 kg)

Emissions associated, not with the company itself, but that the organisation is indirectly responsible for, up and down its value chain, e.g., from buying products from suppliers and from its products when customers use them.

TOTAL EMISSIONS: 2,501,674 kg

Emissions Reduction Targets

Since adopting our EMS Management System and being approved to ISO 14001, we have set out a number of environmental targets and objectives along with a target date to meet these. Our objectives to reduce our emissions are outlined below and are available in full on request:

Annually offset our CO₂

Reduction of 4% utility usage across all offices by February 2023.
Reduction of carbon emissions tracked through our offsetting, through methods such as car share, working from home policy, regionalised planning of colleagues to reduce travel.
Reduce paper usage by 5% by August 2022.

To continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 2,126,422 tCO₂e by 2027. This is a reduction of 15%

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2020 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes will be evidential during the second year due to newly introduced methods of recording the data, and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract:

Amberstone Security Limited are now accredited to ISO 14001 through our governing body NSI (National Security Inspectorate). The system was integrated with ISO 9001 in 2021 and has been regularly briefed throughout the business to improve awareness.
New recycling schemes have been implemented, bringing the recycling of uniform (following de-badging) being included in the everyday recycling.
Electrical items are re-purposed through the business where applicable; any items which no longer serve a purpose are gifted to local schools and businesses.
Annual offsetting of CO₂ actively submitted.

The implementation of ISO 50001 to further assist in the management of our energy usage and tracking of progress towards our Net Zero emissions goal.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance and reporting standards for Carbon Reduction Plans.
Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol Corporate Standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting.

Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the Board of Directors (or equivalent management body).
